David J. Goodman, PhD

Goodman Mental Health, Inc has established a reputation of providing caring and compassionate behavioral health services with a commitment to quality. With years of experience, our clinical and specialized services provide individuals, couples, and families the opportunity to receive a full continuum of behavioral health care.

Dr. Goodman uses evidence-based approaches in the assessment and/or treatment of depression, anxiety, poor adjustment, cognitive impairment, thinking disturbance, impulsivity, aggressive behavior, agitation, grief, family discord, and other issues.

“I can connect at a personal level with my clients and their families. As a result, they are comfortable sharing their issues and concerns because our conversations feel to them like they are talking to a trustworthy friend.”

I accept private pay and Lyra Health

My practice currently accepts two forms of payment: 1) Private pay arrangements and 2) Lyra Health (an employee benefit offered by some employers).

Private pay means we negotiate a fee which is due after each session.  For private payments, I accept credit cards thorough my online payment system.

Check with your health insurance provider to see if they offer an ‘out-of-network’ benefit.  If so, you may be eligible to be reimbursed by your health insurance provider for a portion of the fees you pay for therapy service.  In such cases, you and I would work out a private-pay arrangement, and you would then submit ‘superbill’ paperwork I will provide you (documenting the work we do) to your health insurance provider and they will reimburse you directly.

Recovering from mental illness or a difficult life circumstance includes not only getting better, but achieving a full and satisfying life. Many people affirm that their journey to recovery has not been a straight, steady road but were filled with ups and downs, new discoveries and setbacks. Over time, it is possible to look back and see, despite the halting progress and discouragements, how far they have really come. Each time they reach such a milestone, they see that they have recovered a piece of their lives from which they draw new strength. The journey to full recovery takes time, but positive changes can happen all along the way.

Anyone can develop an emotional or mental illness — you, a family member, a friend, or a neighbor. Some disorders are mild, while others are serious and long-lasting. Many people diagnosed with mental illness achieve recovery and their best self by making the decision to get help.
Goodman Mental Health works in partnership with each client and develops customized behavioral health programs that work for them. There are many different treatment approaches, and no one treatment works for everyone – individuals can choose the treatment, or combination of programs, that work best.

I was abandoned by a long-time therapist and came to Dr. Goodman afterwards. He's done an amazing job at making feel safe in therapy as I try to unwind a mess of issues.
